MEET OUR DIRECTOR
Claire K. Simpson is a director and teaching artist that is proud to call North Carolina her home. Claire began her professional career as a scenic artist at Flat Rock Playhouse fifteen years ago. After leaving Flat Rock, she spent six years within the Education Department at Florida Repertory Theatre–during the last year of which, she spearheaded the program as the Education Director. While there, Claire directed over twenty productions both for and with young people. Favorite productions include All Shook Up- Young Broadway, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, and The Mark Twain Storybook. She carried this love of storytelling for young people into the graduate Theatre for Youth MFA program at UNC-Greensboro. In addition to directorial work (Pippi Longstocking, Dani Girl), Claire also interned with Chapel Hill’s Paperhand Puppet Intervention–building puppets, masks, and scenery for the company’s annual production. Most recently, Claire works with the South Carolina Childrens’ Theatre in Greenville as a teaching artist. She is delighted to bring her love of theatre and storytelling back to her first theatrical home and is excited to meet, play, and imagine with fellow artists in this community.
